Strontian is found on the A861, 16 miles west of the Corran
Ferry, which crosses Loch Linnhe from the A82, 8 miles south
of Fort William. Glasgow and Inverness airports are under 2
hours away. There is a rail terminus in Fort William.
When travelling from the South, we use the M74 from Carlisle
to Glasgow, exiting at J4 to join the M73, then immediately
exiting this to join the M8 westbound (which takes you through
the centre of Glasgow). Remain on the M8 until J30, where
you exit to cross the Clyde on the M898 Erskine Bridge (now
no toll). From the exit ramp of the bridge, take the A82 for
Crianlarich and Fort William. Remain on the A82 for Fort William
(there are some junctions to negotiate) until you reach the
Corran Ferry.
The Corran Ferry is directly off the A82, the main Glasgow
to Inverness road. If traveling from the South, you will have
passed alongside Loch Lomond, over Rannoch Moor and through
Glen Coe to reach this point. The ferry lies about 8 miles
south of Fort William. It runs between approximately 6am and
9pm, and a crossing costs £5.50. Should the ferry be
closed, the journey can be made without crossing Loch Linnhe,
via Fort William and the A830 road to Mallaig. Strontian is
located on the A861, 16 miles west of the Corran Ferry.
Eriskay is located at Seaview Grazings, Strontian,
Argyll PH36 4HZ. Seaview Grazings is approximately
¼ of a mile beyond the War Memorial that marks the
start of the village, on the right-hand side.
